This governmental organisation provides strategic support on ICT, Policy and Economic matters to facilitate the implementation of major business and technological initiatives.

Your new role

As a Security Analyst you will be part of a team responsible for the design and implementation of this department’s computing security infrastructure ensuring ICTS security and risk strategies are aligned to corporate needs combined with researching industry trends and emerging technologies and standards and implement these where appropriate.

What you’ll need to succeed

Mandatory Requirements / Experience

Bachelor degree in information technology, technical certifications or equivalent and/or significant industry experience in security infrastructure design and administration.
Current “C” Class Driver Licence.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, planning, integration and implementation of appropriate security infrastructure with reference to Queensland Government IS 27001

Design and implementation of Cloud Security Strategy and influence the cyber security posture
Develop and implement security policies and design and configure technology controls to ensure that information assets are protected from accidental or malicious damage
Analysing and developing strategies and solutions that enable project initiatives to be achieved across the branch, while managing and reducing IT infrastructure risks
Providing expert advice, guidance and solutions to all DIS staff and relevant business stakeholders in security management and reducing risk
Review all information technology related initiatives to ensure they comply with security policies and practices • Specify, implement and upgrade security infrastructure hardware and software
Educate and mentor staff regarding contemporary security risks and specify actions to be undertaken to reduce the risk of security violations, data privacy and governance
Act as an internal consultant to senior management on issues pertaining to information security
To research industry trends, emerging technologies and standards, and implement these where appropriate
To mentor and educate staff and ensure the adoption and management of security technologies and practices • Act as a registered technical contact and registrar for internet application and domain registrations
Perform research and development activities, including innovative approaches to technology
Ensuring personal safety and the safety of others by following policies and procedures, cooperating with all reasonable instructions and actively participating in all health & safety training and consultation
Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position
